When you’re looking for the best restaurant in Dallas, Texas, you want fresh ingredients. State & Allen always uses fresh ingredients to create some amazing flavor combinations! For dinner, give our Pan Seared Scallops a try, served with roasted corn, pork belly risotto, broccolini, and drizzled in brown butter sauce. Or maybe the Hickory Smoked Quail, coated in a maple-balsamic demi glaze, then served with sweet potatoes gratin. And lastly – if neither of these great Dallas entrees make your mouth water – then what about one of our customer favorites, the Shrimp Fettuccine with homemade pasta, sun-dried tomatoes, and a smoked fresco cream sauce. So creamy and delicious, there is a reason it’s been a staple on our menu for years!

How to Roast the Perfect Thanksgiving Turkey

State & Allen

Thanksgiving is just days away…are you ready to roast the perfect bird?

If you’re still nervous about impressing everyone with your beautiful roasted turkey, then State & Allen Kitchen + Bar is here with a few tips from our chefs on how to roast the perfect Thanksgiving turkey:

1.   Brining is a Must

Do not skip this step, as it will be the key to the moist turkey of Thanksgiving dreams. Your brine will likely consist of water, salt, a dash of sugar, and a few other spices you want to infuse into your bird.

2.   Cook the Turkey on a Bed of Vegetables

Sure, you’ve heard of cooking your turkey on a roasting rack, but what about cooking it on vegetables instead? Elevating the turkey leads to a crisp crust all the way around, and the drippings add flavor to the vegetables below. Plus – that’s one less side you have to worry about preparing!

3.   Butter It Up

Before baking your turkey, pat it dry – removing as much moisture as possible – and then rub it down with butter or a butter/olive oil combo. We also love to sneak a few pats of butter underneath the skin to add extra flavor. This leads to crisp, delicious skin on the bird and also helps to protect the tender meat below.

4.   Don’t Open the Oven During Cooking

It’s so tempting, but do not open the oven while you’re cooking the turkey! Opening and closing the oven door lets heat seep out of the oven and throws off the oven temperature. Instead, just watch the clock and take it out when it’s ready.

5.   Let  Your Turkey Rest

As with all meat, it’s a good idea to let your perfect turkey rest before cutting into it. Plan on letting it sit out for at least 15 minutes to let the juices redistribute evenly before slicing.

Happy Thanksgiving from your friends at State & Allen Kitchen + Bar – the best restaurant in Uptown Dallas!

Spring Patio Weather: What to Order Now

State & Allen

State & Allen has the best patio in Uptown Dallas, perfect for enjoying a glass of wine or people watching with friends. So when spring patio weather in Dallas starts to roll in, we can’t help but get an extra spring in our step. (pun intended.)

Anyway, on a beautiful weekend like this when the patio is calling your name, head to State & Allen and enjoy one of these deliciously curated dishes – each made with gourmet ingredients and inspired by the flavors of the season:

Appetizers: Charcuterie Board

Order your favorite glass of wine or draft beer and pair it with State & Allen’s delicious Charcuterie Board, prepared with artisanal cured meats, a variety of olives, State & Allen mustard, gherkins, sweet chili jam, and any other delicacies the chef might want to throw on that day. It’s the perfect accompaniment for Dallas happy hour or pre-dinner drinks.

Sandwiches: S&A Muffuletta

When it comes to sandwiches, lately we’ve been partial to the S&A Muffuletta – our take on the New Orleans classic. Each bite is chock full of cured meats including salami, capicola, and pepperoni, provolone cheese, and instead of the traditional olive spread, a sun-dried tomato tapenade. Yum.

Entrees: Filet Mignon

We’ve kind of obsessed with the filet mignon because A) it’s spectacular and B) it comes with two of our favorites: homemade three cheese mac and cheese and roasted vegetables. What’s not to love?! If you’re looking for the perfect entrée to celebrate the simple things in life, this is it.

Dessert: Flourless Chocolate Cake

Save room for dessert because you chocoholics are in for a treat! Our rich, flourless chocolate cake is drizzled in berry sauce and berries and served with a side of vanilla ice cream.

So on a beautiful Dallas evening, remember State & Allen is the place for dining al fresco! There’s no question we’re the best patio in Uptown Dallas
