Our founders, Jonathan and Angela Calabrese, have built this company on the principles of good stewardship.
Sure, they love serving killer food in a fun, Uptown Dallas atmosphere, but they also love conserving the environment and reducing our carbon footprint along the way.
That’s why – from Day 1 – they have implemented industry-leading, environmentally-friendly practices to care for our environment.
So what green initiatives do we have? Read on to learn a few of our environmentally friendly practices that add up:
Bring Your Own Coffee Cup
Sounds weird, doesn’t it? Our philosophy is that if you bring your own coffee cup to brunch, then that’s one less dish to wash – and less energy and water spent in the process. But don’t worry – we’ll give you free coffee for your trouble!
Water Isn’t Automatic
In most restaurants, a glass of water on the table is a given, but at State & Allen, we do things a little differently. We are more than happy to bring you a glass of water if you’d like, but if you’re enjoying a cocktail, beer, or soda instead, we’ll just keep the water off the table. It saves on energy to produce ice and clean the glass – and conserves water too!
All To-Go Containers are Compostable
We love Styrofoam as much as the next guy, but you won’t find any here. Styrofoam takes years to decompose and isn’t good for the environment. Instead, we special order containers that are fully compostable and our plastic bags are 100% biodegradable, made from natural bioplastic polymers.
We Recycle Cooking Oil
Why throw it out when it can be reused? We recycle our cooking oil where it gets turned into new and useful things (think biodiesel!)
At State & Allen Kitchen + Bar, we’re proud to be one of the most green restaurants in Dallas and at the forefront of green dining in Dallas. Have a suggestion on how we can improve?! Reach out! We love new ideas on how to further reduce our carbon footprint!
